US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has announced that a $5 million reward has been set for anyone who collaborates with the arrest of Maikel Moreno, the president of Venezuelas Supreme Court of Justice.
Pompeo said Moreno is a key player in what he called President Nicolas Maduros narco-terrorist regime.
Caracas has decried the US move, calling it a baseless and politically-motivated action aimed at advancing Donald Trumps regime-change policy in Latin America.
Maduro says Washington is willing to intimidate Venezuelas high-ranking authorities, but that it will fail since all Venezuelan public representatives are faithful to his presidency and the countrys Magna Carta. But the opposition praises the US aggression.
However, experts say Washingtons allegations refer to a criminal network that does not exist.
While the United States goes on targeting senior authorities in Venezuela, they all stay in their jobs and denounce the hostile actions of Washington.
In the light of Washingtons illegal sanctions against Caracas, experts say the US is now targeting Venezuelas Judiciary to undermine the countrys institutions. Caracas, however, believes Washington will not achieve its goal, ensuring that the Latin American countrys top officials will remain loyal to President Maduro.
